What’s black, white, and red all over? Naomi Watts and her 145-pound co-star, Bing the Great Dane, strolling the crimson carpet at the New York premiere of The Friend.
Directed by Scott McGehee and adapted from Sigrid Nunez’s 2018 novel, the film—set for a U.S. release on March 28 and a U.K. debut on April 25—follows Iris, a solitary writer and teacher whose life takes an unexpected turn when a late friend leaves her his enormous dog.
On Monday night, Watts and Bing were a picture-perfect duo, not just in chemistry but also in fashion. The Mulholland Drive star wore a white gown adorned with fur-tufted black polka dots, mirroring Bing’s own dappled coat. But any Cruella de Vil comparisons ended there—Watts and Bing were all about affection, sharing paw-shakes, puppy kisses, and plenty of head scratches.
